The Chargers split a soggy three-way match between Wawasee, West Noble, and Mishawaka Marian. Wawasee was the overall winner with a solid round of 169. West Noble finished second with a total score of 215, while Mishawaka rounded out the group with a team total of 233.
The Chargers had many bright spots on the night. The team total was the lowest 9 hole score of the season. Paige Shearer finished 3rd overall in a match with many talented golfers. She closed off her nine holes by dropping a 7 foot birdie putt. Natalie Halferty also had a great night, scoring a season best 57. Sarah Buchanan also navigated her way through the torrential downpours to shoot a 55 for the night. Audrey Fulford (who has played less than 10 rounds in her life) finished with a solid 61. The Chargers were rounded out by Lauren Barnes who finished with a score of 65.
All 5 of Wawasee’s girls finished with a score of 45 or better. Kaylee Rostochak of Wawasee was the medalist for the match with a score of 40, followed closely by her teammate Aubrey Scmeltz who shot 41. Mikala Mawhorter and Kamryn Foy each pitched in a 44, followed by Madison Beaman who shot 45.
Mishawaka Marian scored as follows:
Molly Pendergasta — 52
Bridget Joyce — 60
Carley Turak — 60
Catherine Oliva — 61
Katherine Rice — 61
The Chargers look to continue their positive push on Thursday night as they play at South Shore against Churubusco.
